Meeting with your driver and guide to visit Catania, this city is dramatically situated between the Ionian Sea and the looming bulk of Mount Etna, which every so often rains ash upon the streets. The town was rebuilt in the Baroque style, and it was during this era that many of the town’s finest buildings were constructed. You will visit its impressive Duomo and experience the ebullient Pescheria, the daily fish and vegetable market. Lunch on your own and drive to the famous Cyclops Coast through Acireale, its most important town, and Acicastello, with its Medieval Norman Castle built in 1076 on a prehistoric basalt lava terrace, you’ll admire the Rocks of the Cyclops, imposing, spiky shards of black lava that rises up from the water. It is here, as told in Homer’s Odyssey, that the Cyclops Polyphemus threw these rocks at the fleeing Ulysses, who had blinded him. Acitrezza is also the setting of the celebrated novel I Malavoglia by Giovanni Verga. Return at hotel in the late afternoon.

Meeting with your driver and departure for Viagrande. During the tour you will admire the beautiful volcanic landscape of the biggest European volcano. Here you will meet Mrs Eleonora Consoli in her La Cucina del Sole (The Sun’s Kitchen). Eleonora has written several cookbooks on Sicilian gastronomy and is the unofficial expert on Sicilian cooking in the world. She will conduct a hand-on cooking class, teaching the class several classic Sicilian dishes. Your lunch will be spent with Eleonora in her home. After lunch come back at hotel in the late afternoon.

Meeting with your driver and departure for Mount Etna where you will meet you guide. Mounte Etna is the most active volcano in Europe and one of the oldest recorded active volcano in the world. Here you can go and visit the crater of 2001-2002 by cable-car (not included). Guided walking tour. After transfer to Tenuta San Michele, an ancient estate located on the slopes of the volcano Etna. The farm, which belongs to the noble family of the Baron Scammacca del Murgo, is surrounded by extensive vineyards and has a panoramic view of both Mt. Etna and the sea. You will visit the winery and taste their best wines as Etna Rosso, Etna Bianco and the extraordinary Murgo Brut. (you can choose to have a lunch at winery). In the afternoon come back at hotel.

Meeting with your driver and departure for Siracusa where you will meet you guide. Of all the Greek cities of antiquity that flourished on the coast of Sicily, Siracusa was the most important, a formidable seafaring power nearly equal to Athens. It is said that this city is the birthplace of comedy in Greek theatre, and here is the only school of classical drama outside of Athens. You’ll see remarkable Greek and Roman ruins, including the cave called “The Ear of Dionysius”. Finally relax in Ortigia where you will admire the architectural splendour of ancient medieval streets, baroque structures, and classic churches as the Duomo, built upon the old temple of Athena. Lunch on your own. In the afternnon you will be free to admire the historical centre of Noto, the capital of Baroque in Sicily. A very beautiful town with amazing palaces in baroque style. In 1693 age earthquake totally destroyed the town. The current town was rebuilt by famous architect. They made the new Noto a masterpiece of Sicilian Baroque, It is currently listed among UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites.
