Arrival at the airport. Meeting with your tour escort and transfer to Agrigento in a charming temples view hotel. Dinner at the hotel. After dinner, tour of the stunning Valley of the Temples by night. Return and overnight stay.

Breakfast at the hotel. We will meet our guide to visit the Valley of the Temples. Along the “Sacred Way” we will visit the Temple of Hercules, the Temple of Concord, and the Temple of Juno. Finally, we will visit the wonderful Garden of Kolymbetra, an old water reservoir of the Greeks, and the Archaeological Museum, one of the most famous in Europe that collects most of the findings in the Sicilian region.

Return to the hotel and lunch.

On Thursday afternoon, in every village of Sicily, the charming rites of Holy Week begin. In order to witness one of these moments of intense devoutness, we will visit the town of Caltanissetta. Here, we will admire the imposing Vare of the Passion of Christ and the Cristo Nero. Dinner on your own and return late at night to the inn. Overnight stay.

Breakfast at the hotel. Today we will meet our guide who will take us to admire the Via Crucis (Way of the Cross) in Agrigento, a very exciting moment. In the old city centre of Agrigento, we will visit the Church of Santa Maria dei Greci, built upon the old temple of Athena; the Santo Spirito monastery; the Cathedral; and Rabbato, the old Arab quarter. Finally, we will spend the morning browsing the many elegant and traditional shops. Lunch in historical centre.

In the afternoon, we will visit Palma di Montechiaro to visit the famous Oil Press Mandranova and discover how the Sicilian oil is produced and also tasting four kind of olive oil. After Mrs. Silvia will organizes special cooking courses, revealing little tricks of Sicilian cuisine and using typical ingredients and tasty traditional recipes. You will learn how to prepare the “pasta con le sarde” , “verdure and broccoli in pastella”, “sarde a beccafico” this food is called, “poor” dishes provided for by tradition on this day. According to the folk custom, people show their respect for the dead Christ by fasting on the evening of Good Friday. At dinner, you will taste the dishes we have just prepared. After dinner, you will admire the rites of the Passion of Christ, in a magnificent landscape frame. Come back to the hotel and overnight stay.

Breakfast and leaving for Favara, where we will be present at the Festival of the Paschal Lamb. This event will offer us the possibility to admire the local producers’ mastery in creating the hand-made lambs of almond paste and pistachio. Then we will visit the Chiaramonte Castle, the Cathedral and the old town centre. Lunch on your own. In the afternoon leaving for San Biagio Platani, in order to admire the imposing Archi di Pane (Bread Archs) hanging in the old town centre. Dinner in a typical agriturismo not far from San Biagio Platani. Return and overnight.

Breakfast and leaving for Burgio, the Town of Artistic Handicraft. Visit of the old town centre, of the Bell Foundry and of the art ceramics workshops, whose art is handed down since the 17th century. At 12:00 a.m. the group will join the crow in the Piazza Umberto I, in order to witness the moving ’ncontru (meeting) between Mary and the risen Christ, a really affecting moment reflecting the strong religiousness of the Sicilian people and its tie with the ancient traditions. Easter Lunch in the typical Restaurant. During the afternoon, we will follow the cheerful processions of St. Vitus and St. Luke, celebrating the Resurrection of Christ. These rites go on until late at night, we could decide to stay at Burgio or else to go back to Agrigento for dinner. Dinner on your own. Return and overnight stay.

Today we will have a typical Sicilian Pasquetta (Easter Monday celebration) in the countryside. Here, we will spend the whole day, according to the Sicilian custom, in complete relaxation in the middle of the greenness of the surrounding country, listening to Sicilian folk music e tasting roasted meat, cheeses, olive and good wine. Dinner on your own. Return and overnight stay.
