Tuscany Countryside Wine and Food Experience (Lunch)

The tour will guide you through the lovely Chianti vineyards on the way to Siena. As the town is still immersed in early morning drowsiness take the opportunity to wander around the pedestrian-friendly heart of this beautiful hilltop town, and discover the rich history that envelopes Siena. A local guide will take you on a guided walking tour along the small medieval streets and squares, passing the oldest bank in the world and the Piazza del Campo, the site of the famous 600-year-old Palio horse race, and on to the spectacular Cathedral.

During your free time, stroll through Siena at your own pace.

A short jaunt then takes you to a family run wine-farm in the heart of the Tuscan countryside where you will enjoy a delicious and traditional Tuscan lunch of fresh products straight off the farm, including handmade pasta and homemade cured meats, salad and typical local cheese. This, of course, will be served with plenty of wine from the region: Vernaccia from San Gimignano, Chianti and Vin Santo (dessert wine).

After lunch, you will depart for San Gimignano, a Unesco world heritage site, famous for the still intact mediaeval town planning. It is often nicknamed the “Manhattan of the Middle Ages” because its famous tall, narrow towers create a skyline that looks a bit like a modern city.

Here you have free time to explore the town centre, the charming craftsmen’s shops along the cobbled stone streets and small squares.

From San Gimignano, you will drive past hilltop hamlets and small churches scattered over some of the most beautiful and enchanting countryside in the world as you wind down the hillsides towards the coast, to Pisa, the last destination for the day. When you arrive you will have a chance to see the Field of Miracles, a green grass field dominated by the dazzling white buildings of the Cathedral or Duomo, the Baptistery, and the Tower, which stands almost 56 meters tall (about 183 ft). Each are exquisite examples of Pisan Romanesque architecture. The Tower leans at about 4 degrees, making it one of the most famous and iconic buildings in the world.

Revel in knowing that you are in one of the most renowned places in the world, do not forget to take creative photographs and wander off down the local streets.
